6 simple tricks to refresh your practice

It’s said that a change is as good as a holiday, so refreshing your medical, dental, radiology or veterinary practice with a few simple changes could give you the business boost you’ve been looking for.

The good news is that refreshing your practice doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. Here are six inexpensive ways to bring new life to your practice:

1. Add some greenery

Bring some indoor plants into your reception area to give it a burst of new life. It’s important to choose low-maintenance plants and assign one person in your practice to care for your plants to avoid over watering. You can also use large, decorative pots to bring some ‘wow factor’ into your practice.

2. Upgrade your finishes

You can give your practice a new lease on life by simply reupholstering tired old furniture in your reception area. You may also consider changing your floor coverings – perhaps replacing well-used carpet with more modern floating timber floors – and opting for new blinds or curtains will also considerably change the look of your practice without the need for a full renovation.

3. Makeover your lighting

Lighting design is on-trend these days, so if your reception area is heavy on harsh 90’s-style fluorescent lighting, it could be time to upgrade to softer LED options with dimmer controls. Adding a large sculptural pendant light or floor lamps to your reception area will also give it a high-end feel without busting your budget.

4. Modernise your playlist

Playing day-time TV in your reception area may not be creating a mood that matches your brand. If that’s the case, consider turning off The Box and piping in some relaxing tunes instead. Streaming services such as Spotify can connect you with a world of new music for a small monthly subscription fee.

5. Reduce clutter

Sometimes simply reducing the clutter around your practice can work wonders. Consider building in some new storage solutions that will allow you to tuck away all your equipment. If you haven’t already, make sure you digitise those paper patient files to eliminate the need for bulky filing cabinets in your reception area.

6. Repaint your interiors

A coat of paint can also dramatically transform your practice. Use warm colours (such as orange and yellow) to put your patients at ease, or cool colours (such as blue and green) to create a sense of professionalism. But be sure to stick with a single complimentary colour palette – using contrasting colours can be jolting to your patients.
